Endoscopic Lift Overview
Endoscopic lifts are commonly performed on the forehead and cheek areas. This surgical procedure is considered a minimally invasive technique that involve the use of an endoscope and a special viewing instrument with a small video camera on the end. This instrument allows the surgeon to see internal images of the body through very small incisions. Through these small incisions, Dr. Hoffmann can perform many of the lift procedures that have been traditionally performed using longer, more invasive incisions. He is highly skilled in all areas of endoscopic facial plastic surgery. During your private consultation, you will find out if an endoscopic procedure is right for you.
Advantages of Endoscopy
All incisions leave scars. However, with the endoscopic technique, scars are hidden in the scalp, much smaller, and some after effects of surgery are minimized. Only a few small incisions are needed in a typical endoscopic procedure, each less than one inch long. For example, an endoscopic forehead lift may only need three short incisions to complete the procedure.
Because the incisions are shorter with endoscopy, the risk of nerve damage is decreased. Bleeding, bruising and swelling may also be significantly reduced. With the endoscopic surgical technique, you will recover more quickly and return to work earlier than if you had undergone traditional cosmetic surgery.
Endoscopic surgery may also allow you to avoid an overnight hospital stay. Most endoscopic procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation.
